Dr Tarn McLean is an artist, designer, and Doctor of Philosophy (Visual Art) and founded the Australian accessories and textile company Ocre Designs in 2008.
Tarn’s artwork is grounded in colour observation inspired by nature and botanical paintings created by her Great, great grandfather Adam Forster which are held in the Australian National Library. Her growing practice has emerged from the canvas to the design of accessories and fine art ‘Hero’ pieces for beautiful interiors.
Through each fabric and homewares collection Tarn creates a visual story reflecting a global message of heritage, anchored by nature, art, culture and architecture. All Ocre Designs wallpapers fabrics and objects are made locally on shore in Australia by highly experienced manufacturers and are suitable for residential and commercial interiors.
Tarn now shares her painting and industry expertise with affluent homeowners offering a one-on-one design service, working with clients to custom design their stories into beautiful art, fabric and wallpapers.
Tarn has an active studio practice and exhibits both nationally and internationally in group shows in the field of non-objective painting. She also continues to publish and lecture in the field of contemporary painting and is an advocate for Children's literacy and sits on the board of the Child Writes Fund.
